Employment and unemployment

Istat estimates that 23.1 million persons were employed in the II quarter 2011, up 0.4% (+87 thousands) from II quarter 2010.

Employment rate was stable to 57.3%. Unemployed decrease to 1.9 million people (-146 thousands).

Unemployed rate was 7.8% from 8.3% II quarter 2010. Inactivity rate increases to 37.9%.
