Retail trade - January 2025
In January 2025, the seasonally adjusted index for retail trade decreased by 0.4% in value terms, likewise volume fell by 0.6% when compared to the previous month.
In the three months to January 2025, the value of retail sales dropped by 0.1%, while sales volume contracted by 0.5%, when compared to the previous three-month period.
On a year-on-year basis, the value of retail trade rose by 0.9%, while volume decreased by 0.2%.
In January 2025, large-scale distribution saw a year-on-year growth of 2.1%, small-scale distribution remained unchanged and non-store retail sales declined by 1.0%. Online sales was down 3.3% when compared to January 2024.
Within the non-food product category, year-on-year performance showed mixed results. The largest growths were observed for Clothing, which increased by 1.9%, and Pharmaceutical products, which rose by 1.8%. The largest falls were recorded for Computers and telecommunications equipment, decreasing by 3.5% and Shoes, leather goods and travel items, contracting by 3.3%.
